A very Happy New Year to all Geoscience Wales members and friends. Just to let you know that due to slightly over-estimating the quantity of beer required for the December 2017 Cluster we will be bringing the spare bottles to the January & February meetings. You will therefore have a choice of a glass of wine or beer to accompany our very interesting talks. Hope to see you there.
William Smith’s maps have been studied in detail by many researchers interested in Smith’s place in the history of geology but few have looked at the maps in the context of modern geological information.
Our presenter this January, Peter Wigley, has been interested in Smith’s maps for the past decade and during that time has digitised a number of his maps and incorporated them into a Geographic Information System (GIS).
Come and hear the fascinating details of Peter’s work on Thursday 18th January 2018 at the Royal Cambrian Academy. 6pm for a 6-30pm start
Please find his full Abstract and Bio HERE
We have the first four monthly meetings with confirmed speakers.

Have a very peaceful and enjoyable festive season everyone !
